Fastmarkets announced a delayed publication of its rand fixing prices per tonne for London Metal Exchange trade on Monday, August 10, 2026, due to the unavailability of the Standard Bank dollar-to-rand conversion rate. The pricing database was subsequently updated once the exchange rate became available. The delay affected rand fixing prices across six base metal contracts traded on the LME.
The impacted prices included copper (MB-CU-0338), aluminium (MB-AL-0256), lead (MB-PB-0064), zinc (MB-ZN-0072), nickel (MB-NI-0093), and tin (MB-SN-0005) rand fixing prices per tonne for LME trade. Fastmarkets, which serves over 14,000 global customers, relies on the Standard Bank conversion rate as a critical input for calculating rand-denominated metal prices on the London Metal Exchange. The temporary unavailability of this rate prevented timely publication of the affected prices until the data was restored to Fastmarkets' pricing database.
