Greenland Mines Values Sarfartoq Rare Earth Project at $2.05B with 118.6% IRR

Greenland Mines Ltd (NASDAQ: GRML) unveiled an independent Initial Assessment for its Sarfartoq Nd-Pr Rare Earth Element Project located in southwest Greenland on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The valuation represents a significant milestone for the company's rare earth development ambitions and signals growing interest in non-Chinese rare earth supply chains. The assessment, prepared by Agricola Mining Consultants Pty Ltd under Regulation S-K 1300 standards, outlines compelling project economics.

Under a high-case scenario incorporating both Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resources, the study highlights a pre-tax net present value of up to $2.05 billion and an internal rate of return of 118.6%, underscoring the asset's economic viability. When excluding Inferred resources, the pre-tax net present value reaches $1.49 billion with a 92.7% internal rate of return. The project is designed with a nine-year mine life processing 12.2 million tons at a delivered head grade of 1.32% total rare earth oxides.

The Sarfartoq operation would deliver approximately 34% of total refined neodymium and praseodymium oxide volume outside China, positioning it as a critical alternative supply source for Western markets. Indicated resources stand at 6.9 million tons at 1.60% total rare earth oxides, while Inferred resources total 5.3 million tons at 0.96%. This marks Sarfartoq's first combined open-pit and underground resource estimate, with the technical report summary authored by Tetra Tech Canada Inc. and GeoSim Services Inc.

Metallurgical testing conducted by SGS Canada achieved flotation concentrates of roughly 8.25% grade with 63.6% recovery. Neo Performance Materials Inc. (TSX: NEO) has secured a strategic shareholder position and non-binding off-take rights for up to 60% of future concentrate production. Neo plans to process the material at its Silmet facility in Estonia, establishing an integrated supply chain pathway for processed rare earth materials.

Environmental baseline studies led by WSP Denmark continue ahead of licensing procedures. Technical teams plan drone surveys in September 2026 to evaluate district-scale exploration targets across the license area, suggesting potential for resource expansion beyond the current assessment. Greenland Mines shares were up 5.22% at $10.25 on the announcement day, according to Benzinga Pro data, reflecting market confidence in the project's strategic importance and economic fundamentals.
