Fundamental data

Alongside exchange prices, the broadest fundamental database ever built around metal markets: the official statistics of Europe, the United States and China — production, prices, trade, labour, energy, public finance — collected at the source, verified and searchable in one place.

Every price has a context.

Three economies, one platform

European Union

The whole Eurostat statistical framework relevant to market operators: industrial short-term statistics, prices, national accounts, labour, energy, environment, transport, business structure, trade by product. All Member States, plus the official aggregates (euro area, EU27).

United States

First-hand institutional sources: Federal Reserve (FRED), Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, Energy Information Administration, U.S. Treasury. From 1929 GDP to the federal debt updated every day to the penny.

China

A direct link with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), with the full history that international mirrors do not offer: steel and nonferrous metals from 2013, producer prices from 1996, PMIs from 2005 with all sub-indices, real estate from 1999.

The themes

Metals and supply chains, the core of the service

PRODCOM: sold production, total production, exports and imports by single industrial product, for every EU country and for the EU27 aggregate, in value and in quantity, from 1995 — ores, pig iron, steels, aluminium, copper, zinc, lead, tin, nickel, semi-finished products, scrap. The supply chains of the 7 LME metals (aluminium, copper, zinc, lead, tin, nickel, cobalt) mapped code by code along the five links of the chain: ore, intermediate, primary metal, semi-finished product, scrap. Chinese physical output month by month and metallurgy producer prices in the three economies.

Business cycle and industrial production

Production, turnover, orders and price indices of European industry by NACE sub-sector, history from 1953; US industrial production by NAICS industry, foundries and primary metals included; Chinese industrial value added. Surveys and leading indicators: business and consumer confidence (ESI and components), Chinese manufacturing PMI with sub-indices, regional Fed surveys, CFNAI, OECD leading indicators.

Prices and inflation

The complete European HICP (2025=100 indices, all COICOP items, with the official weights of each national basket), the Chinese CPI, the PPIs of the three economies, services producer prices, energy prices by consumption band (electricity and gas, households and businesses).

National accounts and projections

GDP and components for Europe (annual and quarterly, current prices and chain-linked volumes), the US NIPA accounts from 1929, Chinese GDP via OECD; purchasing power parities and comparative price levels; labour cost per hour worked. And the projections: European demography to 2100 and the IMF world macroeconomic framework.

Labour and demography

Monthly unemployment, employment by sector (annual and quarterly LFS), job vacancies, population by age group, births, migration and the official projections to 2100.

Public finance

European debt and deficit (annual and quarterly EDP), the US federal budget line by line (Monthly Treasury Statement) and the US federal debt updated every day to the penny from 1993.

Energy, environment, transport

Monthly European energy balances (gas, solid fuels, oil, electricity), energy prices, Brent and US industrial electricity (EIA), Chinese coke and coal; material flows and circular economy, waste generation, emissions by sector; freight transport by mode.

Business structure

European structural business statistics (SBS): turnover, value added, persons employed, personnel costs, productivity, by NACE sector and enterprise size class — over 800,000 series.

Rates and exchange rates

European short- and long-term rates from 1970, the euro area yield curve, US (Fed Funds) and Chinese (PBoC from 1996) policy rates; nominal and real effective exchange rates (BIS) for 30 economic areas; the historical series of European exchange rates, including official monthly averages and pre-euro currencies.

The quality you cannot see, but can measure

  • Every series is described in plain language: 4 million labels derived from the official classifications of the sources, never invented, with homonyms disambiguated.
  • Every gap is explained: a quality vocabulary distinguishes provisional, estimated, confidential, missing and rounded data, and the original flag of the source always remains available.
  • Revisions are never lost: when a source corrects history, the platform keeps the previous value — over 64,000 revisions already tracked.
  • Units are declared, never inferred: currency, index base, seasonal adjustment, annualisation. A "2020=100" index and a year-on-year change cannot be confused.
  • Metadata travel with the data: over 32,000 codes of the official classifications (NACE, COICOP, PRODCOM) decoded into readable labels.
  • Checking against the source is a habit: every batch is validated with conformity checks and cross relations — the index recomputed from its sub-indices, the quarters summing to the year, the same quantity seen from two independent sources.

How to query it

  • Search in 5 languages: search for "rame", "cuivre" or "Kupfer" and find the right series — the multilingual lexicon is curated and continuously extended.
  • The platform AI assistant navigates the catalogue, explains the series and brings them into the workspace next to market prices.
  • Updates at the pace of the sources: daily for daily series (US debt, rates, oil), monthly or quarterly for official statistics, following the calendar of each source.
