Guardian Metal Resources (LSE:GMET) has announced a collaboration agreement with Oritain Global to support the development of a database of origin fingerprints for tungsten, according to Mining.com.au. The partnership aims to establish provenance verification capabilities across domestic and international tungsten and other critical mineral supply chains, with the goal of supporting governments, industry, and end consumers in verifying the origin of tungsten materials. Under the agreement, Guardian Metal will supply tungsten material from its Pilot Mountain Project and Tempiute Project to Oritain as initial samples to support the development of a US tungsten origin database.
Both projects are located in Nevada. Guardian Metal CEO Oliver Friesen emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative, stating that as the US focuses on developing domestic supply chains for tungsten, a critical defence material, the ability to scientifically verify the origin of tungsten is becoming an important differentiator for the company and its Nevada-based projects. Alyn Franklin, CEO of Oritain, highlighted the significance of forensic origin verification for critical mineral supply chains, noting that as US policy increasingly demands verifiable and traceable sourcing, the partnership seeks to provide scientific evidence behind supply chain assurance claims.
