SMM Ferrous Metals Summit 2026 to Address Philippines Steel Import Gap and ASEAN Regional Dynamics

The Philippine Resources Journal is inviting the Philippine resources and steel community to the SMM Ferrous Metals Summit 2026, scheduled for November 26-27 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event aims to connect upstream mineral potential with ASEAN's evolving steelmaking landscape, bringing together miners, resource companies, mills and buyers in a single forum. The Philippines produced approximately 1.8 million tonnes of crude steel in 2025 while importing 8.7 million tonnes of steel products, according to event organisers.

This significant import-export imbalance underscores the critical importance of import security for the Philippine steel sector while simultaneously strengthening the investment case for expanded domestic steelmaking capacity, EAF technology deployment and raw-material supply chain development. The summit will convene 400+ delegates, 50+ speakers and 20+ exhibitors representing 30+ countries and regions. The agenda will focus on iron ore, scrap, EAF technology, pricing and ASEAN trade flows, creating a platform for discussing the Philippines' upstream resource contribution to regional steel production.

Early bird registration is available at a 20 percent discount until September 30, with an additional 10 percent promotional discount available using promo code PRJ2026SMM, providing immediate savings of USD220. Source: Philippine Resources Journal via Facebook.
