Copper One Resources Corp. (CSE: CEXY; OTC: CEXYF; FSE: IW8) has agreed to acquire a 100% interest in the Sword & Gossan nickel-copper-cobalt properties in west-central Labrador, Newfoundland and Labrador. The purchase and sale agreement is dated October 6, 2026, and the company announced it on October 7, 2026, according to Streetwise Reports, which published its article on October 20, 2026. Total scheduled cash commitments are CA$4.05 million, consisting of CA$3.65 million in purchase consideration and CA$400,000 in scheduled advance royalty payments.
Completion remains subject to due diligence, board approvals, required third-party consents, acceptance by the Canadian Securities Exchange, and the absence of a material adverse change in the property's status before closing. The acquisition covers ten mineral licenses comprising 156 claims across approximately 3,900 hectares, about 90 kilometers north of Churchill Falls on the northern side of the Smallwood Reservoir. The Sword project consists of seven licenses covering 57 claims and 1,425 hectares, while Gossan comprises three licenses covering 99 claims and 2,475 hectares.
The property lies within the Michikamau Intrusion, one of Labrador's largest anorthosite-troctolite intrusive complexes, and approximately 300 kilometers southwest of the Voisey's Bay nickel-copper-cobalt mine, as stated in the source. The vendor, 1594122 B.C. Ltd., is described as an arm's-length party.
Under the agreement, Copper One will pay CA$1.15 million one business day after the effective date and CA$2.5 million within six months of execution, plus two advance royalty payments of CA$200,000 each on the first and second anniversaries of the effective date. No company securities will be issued. The property is subject to an existing 2% net smelter returns royalty, of which Copper One can buy 1% for CA$2 million in cash at any time.
Historical work on the property was conducted by previous operators, including airborne geophysical surveys, geological mapping, surface sampling and initial drilling. According to the source, exploration conducted between 2005 and 2007 identified a magmatic sulphide system with nickel-copper-cobalt mineralization and multiple electromagnetic conductors that have not been drill-tested. Surface prospecting reported nickel, copper and cobalt mineralization at several gossanous showings, including Gossan 115 and Sword Far North.
At the Juno conductive zone, a historical two-hole drilling program reportedly intersected nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide mineralization across a broad interval. The conductors occur within troctolite and leuco-troctolite host rocks, which previous interpretations associated with a possible feeder zone to the Michikamau Intrusion. The key caveat is that the historical results have not been verified to current standards.
Copper One stated in its October 7, 2026, announcement that a qualified person had not completed sufficient work to verify the historical exploration results, and that the company is not treating them as current. The historical interpretations and electromagnetic anomalies do not establish the presence, grade, continuity or economic viability of mineralization. The source does not report any mineral resource estimate or established grades for the property.
Most of the electromagnetic targets remain untested by drilling, and additional exploration, laboratory analysis and geological evaluation will be required to determine whether they contain mineralization of sufficient grade, size and continuity to warrant development studies. In a company news release, David Greenway, President and CEO of Copper One, said: "Historical surface sampling and drilling identified mineralization, while multiple electromagnetic conductors remain untested." On the nickel market, Trading Economics reported that nickel fell to around US$15,600 per tonne, its lowest level since December 2025, as ample availability continued to weigh on prices. The publication identified increased Philippine nickel ore shipments to Indonesia and rising London Metal Exchange inventories as factors contributing to available supply.
LME exchange inventories had climbed to 278,898 tonnes by September 24, from an August low of 264,444 tonnes. On the supply side, the report also described production constraints in Indonesia, including ore quota restrictions and water shortages that had affected some smelting operations. On the demand side, Trading Economics noted that nickel consumption remains concentrated in stainless steel production, while battery demand provides a more limited contribution.
Based on the information in the source, the Sword & Gossan property is at an early exploration stage, and the source does not indicate any near-term production or supply impact from the acquisition. Copper One also holds other projects, including the Majuba Hill copper project in Nevada and the Redonda copper-molybdenum project in British Columbia, which are not part of this transaction.
