EQ Resources secures 10% stake in Nevada tungsten JV with Elmet and Blue Moon

Australian miner EQ Resources has announced it will acquire a 10% stake in a joint venture partnership focused on restarting the Springer tungsten project in Nevada. The strategic alliance involves Nasdaq-listed Elmet Group, which will hold a 70% stake and serve as project operator, alongside Canada-based Blue Moon Metals, which will own 20% of the venture. EQ Resources will contribute its expertise as a tungsten supplier to complement the partnership structure.

The market responded positively to the news, with EQ Resources shares surging as much as 16.9% to A$0.45, marking their highest valuation in 19 years. This significant price movement reflects investor enthusiasm for the company's entry into the strategic tungsten sector. The joint venture's primary objective is to restart the Springer ammonium paratungstate (APT) processing facility in Nevada, with an initial annual processing capacity targeted at approximately 4,000 tonnes.

Elmet will assume financial responsibility for the first $75 million in restart costs for the plant, with backing from financing secured through the U.S. Department of Defense. This government support underscores tungsten's strategic importance for U.S. defense and industrial applications.

The Springer project represents a significant development in the North American tungsten supply chain, particularly as tungsten demand continues to grow across aerospace, defense, automotive, and renewable energy sectors. By leveraging Elmet's operational capabilities, Blue Moon's development expertise, and EQ Resources' tungsten processing knowledge, the partnership positions itself to address supply chain resilience in this critical mineral.
