PT Solder Tin Andalan Indonesia (STANIA), a subsidiary of PT Arsari Tambang, and Singapore Asahi Chemical & Solder Industries Pte. Ltd. (Asahi Solder) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance Indonesia's tin downstreaming industry through strategic collaboration. The MoU signing ceremony took place at the STANIA factory in Batam, with the partnership focused on developing higher-value solder products, enhancing technology and quality capabilities, and expanding market access.
STANIA operates as part of PT Arsari Tambang's integrated tin downstreaming ecosystem that encompasses mining operations through downstream product manufacturing. The STANIA facility in Batam was inaugurated in July 2025 with an initial production capacity of 2,000 tonnes per year. The company currently produces solder bar and continues to develop higher-value solder materials for the electronics industry.
Aryo P. S. Djojohadikusumo, Chief Executive Officer of PT Arsari Tambang and Deputy CEO and COO of Arsari Group, emphasized that the partnership represents a broader strategic vision for Indonesia's industrial development.
According to Djojohadikusumo, the initiative aims to build a comprehensive value chain connecting natural resources, value-added materials, manufacturing, and emerging technologies. The overarching goal is to advance Indonesian tin from its current status as a commodity into value-added materials that support electronic manufacturing and contribute to a developing technology and artificial intelligence ecosystem. Arsari Group is simultaneously developing a technology and artificial intelligence ecosystem through RAIA Grid, which encompasses connectivity, fiber networks, data centers, cloud infrastructure, high-performance computing, and AI capabilities.
The conglomerate is also preparing to establish GPU assembly capabilities within Indonesia. Djojohadikusumo noted that building such an ecosystem requires the development of supporting industries and supply chains, making partnerships like the one with Asahi Solder essential components of the broader industrial strategy. Asahi Solder brings extensive international expertise in soldering and electronic interconnect materials, serving a wide range of applications across the global electronics industry.
Vincent Kho, Owner and Director of Singapore Asahi Chemical & Solder Industries Pte. Ltd., stated that the partnership combines STANIA's local manufacturing capabilities with Asahi's technological expertise and experience in solder products. Through the collaboration, the two companies will explore opportunities in product development, technology advancement, quality assurance, and market expansion, with particular focus on developing higher-value solder products including solder paste.
The development of STANIA also reflects PT Arsari Tambang's commitment to building a more environmentally responsible and sustainable tin industry. The STANIA facility has been designed with emphasis on energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and environmental considerations. For Arsari Group, tin downstreaming must proceed alongside innovation and sustainability principles, an approach aligned with the Government of President Prabowo Subianto's agenda to advance industrial downstreaming, investment, and strengthen Indonesia's national industrial base.
The STANIA–Asahi Solder partnership demonstrates the increasingly important role of the private sector in investing in industrial capabilities, creating value, and contributing to Indonesia's economic development.
