What it is

Bronzo Lega B6 Milan is the reference quotation of bronze on the Milan market, in euro per tonne. Bronze is the copper-tin alloy; the B6 alloy denotes bronze with about 6% tin, the most common base for strips, springs, bushings, gears and components subject to wear and corrosion.

How it is calculated

The value follows the LME copper and tin quotations, expressed in euro and integrated with the Italian market premiums, in proportion to the alloy composition, plus processing. Daily publication on trading days, with a continuous history.

From ASSOMET to FT Mercati: continuity of the series

Until 31 July 2026 this quotation was part of the "Milan prices" calculated and published by ASSOMET, the Italian national association of non-ferrous metal industries. Since 1 August 2026 FT Mercati has continued its calculation independently with the same criteria: the Bronzo Lega B6 Milan index is the continuation of the same series, with the full history preserved.

For those who use it in contracts nothing changes: monthly averages, year-on-year comparisons and price-revision clauses cross 1 August 2026 without a break. It is advisable to update the contractual reference to "FT Mercati Bronzo Lega B6 Milan index" and, for existing contracts, to share the transition with the counterparty.

What it is used for

Foundries and rolling mills producing bronze use it as the basis for price lists; mechanical and electromechanical industries and makers of springs and bushings to check price adjustments and to fix the value of the alloy in supply contracts.
